I have added new dates for the Introduction to Coloured Pencil course. This new session will run on three weekdays in April: Monday April 21st, Wednesday April 23, and Friday April 25, 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

This week I am going to redo the orchid piece, this time on white printmaking paper versus a burgundy coloured sheet of Colorfix pastel paper. I shall post my progress. I look forward to comparing the two results.

I agree, its good to look over another artist's shoulder as they work - if they can stand it :)
I think we have similar working habits in cp and stonehenge is one of my favourite supports for this medium.
Your orchid is coming on well and I like the softer background, it will make the flower stand out well and complement it.
I just hate that 'ugly stage' that a drawing goes through before it starts to come together, don't you?

Ah the ugly stage...when I first started to draw, I could see the good and the bad in a piece. But once I started in coloured pencil I didn't know if the yuck stage was me and my ineptitude with the medium or if there was hope for the work eventually. I guess I had been living under the proverbial rock - I didn't know that in the making of art that there was an ugly stage! Thanks for mentioning it. It is definitely something people new to art need to know.
