I have never had a student unable to create the art shown here. Trust me, you won't be the exception! :-) I give tons of detailed instructions and you get to keep them. How cool is that?

I'll bet all of these leaf veins look daunting! I assure you they are not. In fact, this is a super fast and easy project.

I provide a line drawing and you actually impress the veins into your paper. This is a fun technique that always thrills my students. Once you learn how, you can apply this to creating cat whiskers, or to rendering tree trunk bark or rock texture, hairs on plants or lace details.

This photo gives you an idea of how we work. I give you a reference photo, a line drawing, tons of step by step instructions as well as work in progress how to pictures. If you don't finish in class, no problem. You get to take all of the instructions (for each and every project) home with you. 

Unlike most classes which leave you hanging and unable to complete your art, I set you up for success. You will be able to create a work of art that is worthy of slipping into a frame! :-)

What you need to know: course dates are Saturday May 16th and Saturday May 23rd, 2015.

• I am offering a class this fall entitled Coloured Pencil Basics. if you have ever wanted to explore the world of cps, then come to my studio for two full days and get all the tips and tricks explained to you. As for the picture above, well I add more tables to my studio space when teaching and the doggie isn't around. (this isn't our new pup, this is our last dog that passed away back in December, just in case you are trying to keep up with my life and are getting confused) Anyway, I realize that dogs, especially big dogs with deep sounding barks, are not for everyone so our new guy won't be allowed to visit during class. New Coloured Pencil Basics Dates

A new session of my Coloured Pencil Basics course has just been scheduled. It will be held over a day and a half at the end of April and the location is my studio here in Ottawa. The dates are Monday April 27th, 9:30 - 4:00, and April 28th, 1:00 - 5:00. This session would be perfect for those of you who work weekends and haven't been able to make it out to my other dates. It is also a good solution for anyone who has to travel from out of town. By getting accommodations for one night, you would only have to make the trip once.
