July issue of Coloured Pencil Newsletter is ready!

Would you like to make this world a better place? If so, I would like to suggest some organizations for you to check out.
My husband and I have supported these organizations for many years and I believe they are working hard to change our world for the better. Our concerns range from social justice to wildlife preservation and environmental issues.
www.ottawamission.com The Ottawa Mission helps the homeless. Not only do they provide meals, they also help these individuals turn their lives around by providing job training, assistance with ending substance abuse, help finding accomodations etc. No matter what city you live in, there will be an organization like this as unfortunately every city has homeless people.
www.worldvision.ca For less than the cost of buying a daily cup of coffee, you can change the life of a child.
www.devp.org This organization is all about social justice. Issues such as responsible mining, the privatization of water, and environmental and human rights abuses by Canadian companies outside of Canada are all top priorities. A large part of their commitment focuses on empowering women throughout the world - through access to education and assistance in forming co-operatives and other income generating projects. This organization is affiliated with a specific religious denomination. Even if you are not a member of this denomination, I am sure they would love to put your money to use. :-) Having said that, if you are a member of a different faith group and you don't know what sort of social justice work they do, just ask. They will be doing something.

Still not sure where to get started? Think of organizations that are doing doing work that you feel is important. Keep in mind that along with financial support, these organizations often need volunteers. Bottom line, a little goes a long way. If you don't feel you have much time or money to spare, please remember that if everyone did something, a lot could get done.
